Poland, SP. Special call sign SN93LOT will be active on 1-31 July to commemorate the 93rd anniversary of the ill-fated flight of Lithuanian pilots Steponas Darius and Stasys Girenas. On 15 July 1933 they attempted a nonstop flight from New York City to Kaunas in a small airplane named “Lituanica.” After crossing the Atlantic Ocean, they crashed on 17 July when they were only 650km short of their final destination. France, F. The “Tour de France Radio amateur Challenge” is an operating event organized by the REF in partnership with local clubs and associations. It will be held during the men’s (4 to 26 July) and women’s (1 to 9 August) Tour de France cycling races. Look for special event stations TMxxTFR (with ‘xx’ being the department number) to be activated for one week from the departments hosting a stage start/finish or those along the race route. For instance, the Radio-Club de Perpignan will be active as TM66TFR between 4 and 10 July. In addition, TM00TFR will be activated by operators from departments involved in the cycling events.
