Mauritius 3B and Rodrigues, 3B9. Alex, SQ9UM will be active as 3B8/SQ9UM from Mauritius (AF-049) between 14 and 17 and again between 21 and27 August and as 3B9/SQ9UM from Rodrigues (AF-017) between 18 and 20 August. Malaysia, 9M. Celebrating National Day (31 August) and Malaysia Day (16 September), several special event stations located in various Malaysian states and federal territories are expected to be activated between 22 August and 30 September. Active from East Malaysia will be 9M26MS (Sabah) and 9M26MQ (Sarawak). Active from West Malaysia will be 9M26MA, 9M26MB, 9M26MC, 9M26MD, 9M26MJ, 9M26MK, 9M26MN, 9M26MP, 9M26MR, 9M26MW and possibly 9M26MM and 9M26MT. QSL via operators’ instructions.
Russia, RI1F. The RI1FJL team departed Murmansk on 12 August. The voyage to Heiss Island (EU-019), Franz Josef Land is expected to take 6 to 7 days. Currently, the yacht “Mariya” is encountering very rough seas. When seasickness allows, the team is active as RI1FJL/mm. Italy, I. Members of ARI Taranto (IQ7TA) will be active as II7MGXX from 21 August to 3 September during the XX Mediterranean Games. Italy, I. Members of ARI Savona will be active as II1LH from the lighthouse at Capo Vado on 22 August between 7 and 16 UTC. They will operate SSB and digital modes on the HF bands, 6 and 2 metres. Canada, VE. Mark, WB2OIL will be active as WB2OIL/VY0 from Broughton Island (Qikiqtarjuaq, NA-130) between 16 August and 1 September. He is part of a scuba diving research team and will operate CW, SSB and digital on 40 to 10 metres as time permits (mainly around 23:00 to 01:00 UTC).
Mexico, XE. Once again special call sign 4A2MAX will be activated between 1 and 31 August in remembrance of St. Maximilian Maria Kolbe. Activity will be on various bands and modes. Juan Fernandez Islands, CE0Z. Moises, CE3VTZ and Felipe, XQ7IR will be active as XR0Z from Alexander Selkirk Island (SA-101) for approximately 10 days in October. They will operate CW, SSB and digital on 160 to 10 metres with two stations. The team will establish their shack at a shelter located 1 057 meters above sea level. Reaching the site is a tough physical and logistical undertaking. Getting there involves a four-hour, seven-kilometre hike from the village to the mountain summit.
