Rodrigues Island, 3B9. Recently active as 3B8G from Mauritius Island, Suvarna, VU3OPT (OM0GA) has been active as 3B9G (not 3B9N, as he originally announced) from Rodrigues Island (AF-017) since 16 April. He now expects to remain there until 22 May.

South Sudan Z8 – Diya, YI1DZ has renewed his contract with the World Food Programme for six months, and expects to return to Juba, South Sudan in the next coming days. Look for him to operate as Z81D on various bands mainly digital during his spare time. QSL via Club Log’s OQRS, LoTW, or via OM3JW.

Japan, JA. Look for JE1HXZ/6 to be active from Kuchino Island, Tokara Islands (AS-049) between 21 and 28 April. He will operate CW, SSB, RTTY and other digital on the HF bands and 6 metres. QSL via Club Log’s OQRS, and LoTW.

China, BY. Ten stations (B0CRA, B1CRA, B2CRA, B3CRA, B4CRA, B5CRA, B6CRA, B7CRA, B8CRA, B9CRA) from across the country will be active between 3 and 5 May for the annual “5.5 China Amateur Radio Festival” on air event, organized by the Chinese Radio Amateurs Club (CRAC). Ukraine, UR. Commemorating the 40th anniversary of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant disaster (26 April 1986), the special call sign EN40CNP will be used between 18 and 30 April from various locations across Ukraine. QSOs will be uploaded to LoTW and QRZ.

Kosovo, Z6. Team Z66SP (namely SP1D, SP2AS, SP2HQY, SP2R, SP2RBA, and SQ2IHP) will be active from near Pristina, Kosovo on 23-28 April. They plan to operate CW, SSB and digital on 160-10 metres, and to participate in the SP DX RTTY Contest. Depending on time and local conditions, they will also be active on 6 metres and on QO-100. Italy, I. Look for IY0CG, IY0GA (Sardinia), IY0IMD, IY0MMR, IY0ORP, IY0TC, IY1MR, IY1SM, IY1SP, IY1TO, IY4FGM, IY5PIS, IY6GM, and IY7M to be active during the International Marconi Day (25 April). IY0IMD (locator JN52VC) and IY7M (locator JN81KD) will operate also on QO-100. QSL via operators’ instructions. These stations are affiliated to the “Coordinamento Stazioni Marconiane Italiane” which gathers amateur radio stations operating from historic Marconi sites located in Italy (https://csmi.altervista.org/wp/).

France, F. On 27 March 1899, Guglielmo Marconi achieved the first international wireless transmission, sending Morse code signals between Wimereux (near Boulogne-sur-Mer), France, and the South Foreland Lighthouse in Dover, England. Commemorating this milestone in the history of telecommunications, the special event station TM8DW will be active from Wimereux on 25 April during the International Marconi Day and sporadically until June. QSL via Club Log’s OQRS. In addition, GB2DOVER, GB2SFL and GB8DW will be operated by the Dover Amateur Radio Club on the British side of the Channel.

Belgium, ON. OT26EPIC is the special call sign for the Antwerp Port Contest Club (ON8APC) to promote this year’s edition of the Antwerp Port Epic cycling race. Look for activity between 25 April and 25 May (the actual day the race will be held on). QSL via ON8JJ.

The Netherlands, PA. PG75HSC is the special call sign for Theo, PA3HEN to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Radio Telegraphy Highspeed Club (HSC) until the end of the year. QSL via home call, and LoTW. Also joining the celebrations is Artur, SP3LPR as 3Z75HSC (QSL via home call, direct or bureau). The club was founded in 1951 as a community within the Deutscher Amateur Radio Club (DARC). Bonaire, PJ4. “TJ”, PE1OJR is active holiday style as PJ4TB from Bonaire (SA-006) until 4 May. He operates SSB and digital on 40 to 6 metres. QSL via LoTW.

CQ DX Marathon. The CQ DX Marathon is a year-long DX hunt, with participants competing to see who can work the greatest number of countries (“entities”) and CQ zones during the calendar year. Complete results of the 2025 edition are on https://dxmarathon.com/results/2025/.

International Marconi Day. Organized by the Cornish Radio Amateur Club, the International Marconi Day (IMD) is a 24-hour amateur radio event held annually to celebrate the birth of Guglielmo Marconi (25 April 1874). It is not a contest, but an opportunity for amateurs around the world to make contacts with historic Marconi sites using HF communications techniques. This year’s event will be held on 25 April, from 00.00 UTC to 23.59 UTC.
